Terms, bookings & cancellations
The practical details for arranging lessons, making changes, paying for tuition and preparing for a driving test.
A fair arrangement works both ways.
These terms protect lesson time, keep expectations clear and allow Tricia to run a safe, reliable diary.
Wait for confirmation
An enquiry or suggested time is not a booking until Tricia confirms the lesson, price and collection point.
Give 48 hours’ notice
With at least 48 hours’ notice, a lesson can normally be rearranged without a cancellation charge, subject to availability.
Arrive ready to drive
You must be legally entitled, medically fit, alert and unimpaired. A lesson may stop if continuing would be unsafe.
Before a lesson is added to the diary.
Confirming a booking
Lessons are subject to Tricia’s availability and agreement. The date, time, duration, collection point and price should be confirmed before the lesson. A regular time cannot be guaranteed indefinitely if availability or teaching routes change.
Prices and payment
The price and payment deadline will be explained before a booking is agreed. If advance payment is requested, the booking may remain unconfirmed until payment clears. A confirmed price will not be changed retrospectively for that booking.
Prepaid or block-booked lessons
Prepaid tuition belongs to the named learner and is not transferable unless Tricia agrees. Any refund for unused lessons will take account of tuition already supplied and any fair cancellation charge properly due. Statutory rights are unaffected.
Tell Tricia as soon as plans change.
The notice period gives Tricia a reasonable chance to offer the reserved time to another learner.
Normally rearranged without charge
Contact Tricia directly at least 48 hours before the booked start time. A replacement lesson will be subject to availability.
The lesson fee may be charged
A fair charge may apply for a late cancellation or missed lesson, reflecting the loss caused by the reserved time. Exceptional circumstances can be considered but should not be assumed.
If you are late
The lesson will normally finish at the original time because another booking may follow. Significant lateness may be treated as non-attendance.
If Tricia cancels or shortens a lesson
The affected tuition will be rearranged or the corresponding prepaid amount refunded. Tricia will give as much notice as reasonably possible.
How to make a change
Call, text or WhatsApp 07908 829118. A change takes effect when Tricia receives it, so use another direct method if a message does not appear to have delivered.
Safety decides whether a lesson can continue.
Licence, eyesight and fitness
You must hold the correct valid licence, meet the legal eyesight standard and disclose anything that may affect your ability to drive lawfully and safely.
Follow safety instructions
Tricia may give firm instructions or use dual controls when required. Do not attend affected by alcohol, drugs, unsafe medication, extreme tiredness or illness.
Respect in the car
Abusive, discriminatory, sexually inappropriate or persistently unsafe behaviour may result in a lesson ending and future tuition being declined.
Weather, traffic and vehicle problems
Tricia may change the route, lesson focus or appointment where weather, road conditions, illness or a vehicle problem makes the original plan unsafe or impractical. Do not assume bad weather has cancelled a lesson; wait for direct confirmation.
Progress
Tuition and feedback will be professional and honest, but every learner progresses differently. No lesson package, course or suggested timescale guarantees a test pass.
Discuss readiness before booking.
A test date should follow safe, consistent driving rather than force the learning plan.
The learner books and manages it
Learners must book, change and cancel their own car driving test through the official GOV.UK driving-test service. Send Tricia the details immediately, but do not assume her car is reserved.
Availability and safe readiness are required
Use of the tuition car needs Tricia’s express agreement. She may refuse or withdraw it if the car is unavailable or if, in her professional judgment, the learner cannot use it safely and responsibly.
Test costs and documents
The learner pays the DVSA test fee and brings the documents DVSA requires. Any charge for a pre-test lesson, waiting time or use of the tuition car will be agreed separately. Examiner decisions and DVSA cancellations are outside Tricia’s control.
These terms do not remove your legal rights.
Consumer law requires services to be supplied with reasonable care and skill. It also controls unfair cancellation charges and may give consumers a 14-day right to cancel certain contracts agreed by phone, message or online.
If you expressly ask for lessons to begin during an applicable cancellation period, you may have to pay a reasonable proportion for tuition already provided. Other statutory rights and remedies remain unaffected.
This is a general summary, not individual legal advice.
Raise a concern directly so it can be understood properly.
Explain the lesson date, what happened and the outcome you consider reasonable. Tricia will review the relevant information and respond fairly.
Either person may end the tuition arrangement. Fees already due remain payable, and any unused prepaid balance will be handled under these terms and consumer law.
Professional-conduct concerns that cannot be resolved directly can be raised using the official DVSA complaints guidance.
Final practical points.
Changes to these terms
The terms may be updated when the service or law changes. The version provided when a booking is made will normally apply to that booking.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers keep any mandatory right to bring proceedings elsewhere in the UK where applicable.
Privacy
Personal information is handled for legitimate lesson, safety, administrative and legal purposes. See the separate Privacy & Cookie Policy.
Ask Tricia before the lesson.
A quick conversation can clear up a booking, payment, cancellation or test arrangement.
